MCI Revised Eligibility Criteria For MBBS Course

The Medical Council of India (MCI), New Delhi revised the eligibility criteria for the admission in to MBBS Course on introduction of National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) from the academic year 2013-14. Initially, For MBBS admission candidate have to secure 50% of marks for General categorycandidates, 40% for SC/ST/OBC categoriescandidates and 45% for locomotory disability categories. The percentile will be determined on the basis of the highest marks secured in the All India Common Merit list in NEET.

If candidates fails to secure a sufficient marks in any category, the government in consultation withMedical Council of India may decide to lower the minimum marks for that category. The lowered minimum marks for the category will be applicable for admission for that particular year only.

Candidates seeking admission to MBBS Course, should also have studied specific and also secured the minimum marks stipulated, in the qualifying examination in addition to the marks stipulated in NEET.
Candidates should have passed in Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English individually and should have secured at least 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology in the qualifying examination to be eligible for admission to MBBS, in addition to finding place in the merit list if NEET.

The candidates belonging to the SC/ST/OBC categories, should have secured at least 40% in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology in the qualifying examination while those with locomotory disability of the lower limbs, should have secured 45% of marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology in the qualifying examination. The candidates appearing for the qualifying examination in an year will also be permitted to appear for the NEET fro the year.
